Parent Inventory for Gifted and Talented Identification

The Parent Inventory is given to the parents/guardians of all students in grades two and four as well as to parents of students in other grades who may have at least one indicator of GT potential in a body of evidence.

The purpose of the Parent Inventory is to gather information about a child’s gifted and talented potential. This information will be added to a body of evidence that may assist in GT identification. The Parent Inventory alone does not qualify a student as gifted and talented, however, it is useful data in the GT identification process.

The Parent Inventory contains a list of common characteristics of gifted and talented ability. Students who are gifted and talented may exhibit some or all of these characteristics.

It is important that parents complete the inventory, if given one, and return it to the classroom teacher or GT representative.

Creative Thinkers Checklist

The Creative Thinkers Checklist is given to the parents/guardians of all students in grades three and five as well as to parents of students in other grades who may have at least one indicator of creative potential in a body of evidence.

The purpose of the Creative Thinkers Checklist is to gather information about a child’s creative potential. This information will be added to a body of evidence that may assist in Creative Thinking GT identification. The Creative Thinkers Checklist alone does not qualify a student as a creative gifted and talented thinker, however, it is useful data in the creative thinker identification process.

The Creative Thinkers Checklist contains a list of common characteristics of creatively gifted and talented ability. Students who are creatively gifted may exhibit some or all of these characteristics.

It is important that parents complete the checklist, if given one, and return it to the classroom teacher or GT representative.
